MeshCore test builds

Firmwares from build/pota-all at a852559f, version string v1.17.1+. Our fixes, the POTA gateway with anti-abuse checks, and the pull requests that have landed on upstream dev since that work started.

Test images. Not a MeshCore release. Confirm the board before you flash. A repeater image will replace a room server, and the other way around. Gateway / firmware bugs: Report a bug. General contact: kb3cmt@gmail.com.

Pick a board and a role

ESP32-S3 boards use the browser installer in Chrome or Edge. nRF52840 boards download a UF2: double-tap reset and copy that file onto the drive that appears.

What this build contains

Open pull requests below are in these images and are not on a MeshCore release yet. Merged ones are already on upstream dev and came along with that.

Our open pull requests

  • #3473 Drop a truncated packet before the parser reads past the bytes that actually arrived.
  • #3475 A cleared room guest password no longer logs in as read-write. A blank repeater guest password still matches, which is the stock repeater behavior. A password login does not demote a higher role, and a room read-only login cannot post.
  • #3476 Room and sensor boot splash starts from UITask::begin, so a late init still shows the version screen.
  • #3477 An identity save that fails is reported, a short advert is rejected, and CLI on/off tokens have to match the whole word.
  • #3484 Companion contacts stay put if a save is interrupted or the filesystem does not mount. The new file replaces the old one only after the write finishes.
  • #3485 Node names that can break prefs storage or the web configurator are rejected.
  • #3486 A region list that does not fit in one 160-byte CLI reply is paged, instead of dropping the names that do not fit.
  • #3487 Hibernate and the Bluetooth toggle need a second long-press before they happen.
  • #3488 The sensor list start index is bounded, and the reply still leaves room for the page marker.
  • #3489 On an ESP32-S3 with no PSRAM, Wi-Fi starts before BLE so the station can come up.

Other open pull requests included here

  • #2986 Semtech Sleep no longer fails when the radio is not already in standby. Seen on SX1262, SX1268, and LLCC68.
  • #3446 External-power detection uses the USB PHY, not whether a serial console is talking, so a quiet USB cable still counts.
  • #3422 A GPS time that is not valid is not written into the RTC.
  • #3462 Shutdown waits for several low-battery readings, so a transmit current spike does not look like a dead pack.

Already merged on upstream dev

  • #3490 Heltec CT62 no longer boot-loops.
  • #3497 Companion firmware pushes telemetry the app did not request, as a binary response frame.
  • #3500 Hibernate is hidden on the 1 W Wio Tracker L1. The Wio images on this page are the standard L1, not that 1 W variant.
  • #3200 Generic GPS UART and NMEA diagnostics.
  • #3201 L76K GPS starts with GPS, BeiDou, and GLONASS.
  • #3202 ThinkNode M6 reports external power and charger state.

On this tree only

  • POTA gateway on Heltec V3, Heltec V4, Heltec V4 R8, and the XIAO ESP32-S3 + SX1262. That overlay is not an upstream pull request. The POTA-only flasher is on the gateway page.
  • POTA anti-abuse on those gateway images: call and park shape checks, a 5-minute duplicate window, 3 spots per activator per 10 minutes, 20 spots per hour, and a 16-callsign block list (pota block).
  • Version string v1.17.1+ on the boot screen, the ver command, a repeater owner-info reply, and the companion app’s device info.
