PAQP Live for Ham2K Logger

A small add-on for Ham2K Logger that sends your PA QSO Party log to the getontheair.app log checker, so you can see fixes, dupes, score and needed counties while you operate. Your contacts travel inside a link straight to your own browser. No account needed. Link mode uses no server, and an optional real-time mode goes through a relay on getontheair.app.

Read the step-by-step instructions Install, Link and Real time modes, the checker, Cabrillo, troubleshooting and FAQ.

Needs: Ham2K Power Logger, Ham2K’s new app for Windows, macOS, Linux and mobile (first announced as HaLo; builds may say “Ham2K Logger” or “Next Edition”, and Ham2K shortens it to PoLo), at extension API 5 or newer: 26.9.0 (build 178) or later. The classic Ham2K Portable Logger (the original PoLo phone app) can’t load add-ons like this one. Neither is related to N3FJP’s Pennsylvania QSO Party Log, which also works with the checker through a file export.

Install in Ham2K Logger uses the app’s own install link (com.ham2k.logger:///install_extension), which Ham2K documents for installing from a web page. Your browser may ask to open Ham2K Logger first. If nothing happens, download the file and use Install from file (below). The app always shows what the add-on asks for and waits for you to agree. Checksums for these and older builds are in SHA256SUMS. On Windows you can check one with certutil -hashfile kb3cmt-paqp-live-0.1.5-api5.h2kext SHA256.

What it sends, and what it doesn’t

Set up

Short version below. The full instructions walk through every screen.

  1. Install. Tap Install in Ham2K Logger above. Or download the .h2kext and, in Ham2K Logger, go to Settings → Extensions & Features → Install from file… and pick it. Pasting the .h2kext link into the search field there works too. Agree to what it asks for (it may reach getontheair.app).
  2. Add the panel. Open your PA QSO Party operation, go to Layout Setup, and add the PAQP Live panel.
  3. Turn on Link mode. Open the panel’s settings (its gear in Layout Setup) and set “Send contacts to the checker” to Link.
  4. Send full log. Tap Send full log in the panel. Your browser opens the checker with every contact. A big log comes in parts (“Part 1 of 2”, …): tap each part once, in any order. The checker shows “Received 1 of 2 …” and switches to the new log only when it has every part. A link holds about 2,000–2,500 contacts, so a 1,000-contact log is one link.
  5. Keep it current. Later, tap Send latest changes to bring in new contacts. If you edited an earlier contact, or the checker is missing a piece, it says so. Then tap every part of Send full log again. If a checker tab is already open, it updates too.
  6. Real time (optional). On the checker, under Live from Ham2K PoLo, tap Pair for real time…. A code like K7QX-M3PA appears next to the button. In Ham2K Logger, open the PAQP Live panel’s settings, set “Send contacts to the checker” to Real time, and type the code into Pairing code. The panel shows “Connected · 1 checker page watching” and the checker says “Live from PoLo: … via relay”. From then on every new, edited or deleted contact shows up within seconds. The checker remembers the code, so reloading the page, or a relay restart, rejoins the same pairing and brings your full log back at once. Forget this pairing drops it. If the relay can’t be reached, both sides say why and keep retrying, and Link mode still works meanwhile.
  7. If links won’t open: type PAQPCOPY in the call field and press space. Select all the text it shows, copy it, and paste it into Paste from Ham2K on the checker. You can also export ADIF from Ham2K and drop the file (or use Watch a log file) on the checker. Everything merges: the checker updates matching contacts, adds new ones, and keeps your fix choices.
  8. Longest link (panel settings): 30,000 characters by default. That was measured on Windows 11, where the hand-off to the browser carries up to about 32,000. Pick 16,000, 8,000 or 2,000 if a link arrives cut off. You’ll just get more parts.

Updating

From 0.1.3 on, the panel shows Update available: 0.1.x with an Install in Ham2K Logger button when a newer build that your app can run is published here. It never installs anything by itself. Installing a newer version of the same add-on updates it in place and keeps its settings, and Ham2K Logger asks you to confirm each time. Versions 0.1.2 and older can’t check, so install the latest build by hand once.

Troubleshooting

“That extension needs a newer version of this app — it speaks API version 7, this app speaks 5.”
That was the 0.1.0 test build. Use the latest -api5 build on this page; it runs on Ham2K Logger 26.9.0 (build 178).
The checker says a link was cut off or damaged
Set Longest link lower in the panel settings and tap again, or use PAQPCOPY and paste.
“Still needed: QSOs …”
Tap the remaining parts of Send full log. Order doesn’t matter, and tapping one twice is harmless.
“… changed in PoLo after the earlier part was sent”
A contact in an earlier part was edited. Tap every part of Send full log again.
The panel says the app doesn’t let add-ons read the log
Your Ham2K Logger is older than the API this needs. Update the app.
“Can’t reach the relay …” / “Couldn’t reach the relay …”
The message says why (no answer, refused, blocked) and when it will try again. Check your internet connection. On a filtered network (some hotel, school or work Wi-Fi), real time may be blocked. Use Link mode, which needs nothing but the browser.
The panel says the pairing code doesn’t look right
Codes are 8 letters and digits and never use 0, O, 1, I or L. Copy it exactly from the checker page; the dash is optional.
Install in Ham2K Logger does nothing
Your browser may have blocked the app link. Download the .h2kext and use Install from file…

Changelog

0.1.5-api5 · 2026-10-10
Adds a How to use PAQP Live link at the bottom of the panel, to the new instructions. Sending is unchanged.
0.1.4-api5 · 2026-10-10
Real-time relay mode is live: pair with the checker page using its code. A connection that’s blocked or doesn’t answer within 15 s now shows the reason and retries with a growing delay, instead of sticking on “Connecting…”. Clearer pairing-code messages.
Relay update · 2026-10-10 (no add-on change)
The relay now caches each pairing’s log for up to 7 days after its last update, so the checker can reload or re-pair and get the whole log back, and a relay restart resumes the pairing. The checker remembers its code and has a Forget this pairing button.
0.1.3-api5 · 2026-10-10
Checks getontheair.app for its own updates (about once a day, plain GET, no log data; can be turned off). Shows Update available with an Install link. Never installs by itself.
0.1.2-api5 · 2026-10-10
Sends the whole log: compact links (about 4.5× smaller), multi-part Send full log, Send latest changes, the PAQPCOPY copy fallback, and the Longest link setting. The checker merges partial links into what’s loaded instead of replacing it.
0.1.1-api5 · 2026-10-10
Rebuilt for extension API 5 so it runs on Ham2K Logger 26.9.0 (build 178). Link mode; logs over about 200 contacts got only the latest 25.
0.1.0 · 2026-10-10
First test build (extension API 7). Ham2K Logger 26.9.0 refused it with the API version error.
