Most of this guide is a picnic table. Activators still hunt from a shack, operate from a camper, and sometimes from a boat. The RF and legal problems change; the logger and the award rules do not.
This section is how the station sits, not a second copy of hardware or antennas.

Rules that do not travel
- POTA allows operating from a vehicle inside the park. Hitch 4WAVE is a POTA tool.
- SOTA does not. The station in the activation zone must be independent of a motorized vehicle. Confirm program rules.
- Part 97 amateur operation is not marine VHF (156 MHz distress and ship channels) and is not marine MF/HF SSB. Do not mix those allocations. Detail on boating.
Logging does not change
Polo in the grass or the dinette. N3FJP when there is a table and CAT. Digital ADIF still merges in ADIF Doctor. Grid is this sitting, not last night’s campground 40 miles back.
Power and RFI follow the station
The radio does not care if the 13.8 V comes from a picnic LiFePO4, an RV house bank, or a shack supply — the current is the same. 100 W still wants Powerpoles and a fuse. Inverters, solar charge controllers, LED lighting, and pumps are the noise sources that change by setup. Kill them one by one on a quiet band until the floor drops. UTC clocks do not change with the furniture. Polo, AC Log, and WSJT-X still need the same Zulu second as the paper log.
